I’m a permaculture practitioner implementing a permaculture design where I care-take an 8 1/2-acre former retreat center. I also do both paid and unpaid work for local, regional and national permaculture education projects. My main source of income is freelance designing and maintaining of websites for clients. This income makes it possible to me to devote many hours to field work as well as organizing permaculture events and networking & information sharing among permaculture communities.
I am currently seeking one or two new clients. Please have a look at my qualifications and services offered. I just might be the person you’re looking for to get your web presence up to snuff.
These days, you have a lot of choices when it comes to getting yourself a presence on the Internet. You can build your own website yourself, often for free, but some of the free website services are very limiting or are too complex. Sometimes you just don’t have the time to build or maintain your own website.
You can pay someone else to do it, but often you end up with sticker shock when you find out how much a designer wants to charge you, or you can’t get your designer to answer your emails, or you end up with a website that really doesn’t do what you want it to.
Here’s where I come in.
I’m an affordable, flexible, creative, responsive and communicative website designer. I’ve been told my rates are “insanely” low. I see my role as making the Internet accessible for those of us of modest means. I can build powerful and effective websites for folks who might otherwise not be able to harness the power of the Internet. I can build a website that you can maintain or I can stay on and maintain the website for you. I can also maintain your pre-existing website. I will answer your emails or calls in a timely manner, normally within 24 to 48 hours.
I can help you with any website from a few simple pages to a full-blown interactive, social network; from a simple blog to a large on-line database.
My Capabilities include: HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, php database-driven website systems Drupal, CiviCRM, , MediaWiki, WordPress, Joomla, Wix, GoogleApps, Facebook. I can integrate your website with MailChimp and phpList email newsletter systems. I am an expert Drupal 7 designer and consider Drupal to be the most flexible and powerful website platform available.
I also have skills in copy editing, graphic design, digital photo editing, video editing and audio production that mesh well with many web design needs.
Sampling of existing websites I designed and/or maintain: Inland FoodWise Online – Newsletters and Action Alerts for the Inland Northwest Foodshed (Drupal 7 site built from scratch), North American Permaculture Convergence (major overhaul of existing WordPress site, 2013-2017), Northwest Permaculture Convergence (rebuilt a Blogger site on a Drupal 7 platform, since taken over by others), Gathering of the Realms (took over an existing WordPress site), Friends of the Trees Society (rebuilt ancient html site using Drupal 7), Inland Northwest Permaculture Guild (Drupal 7 site I’m rebuilding froma previous Drupal 6 site), Spokane Moves to Amend the Constitution (Drupal 7 site I built from scratch– since discontinued by the organizers), my friend Gabe’s website Fungi Permastead (a WordPress site I designed), Spokane Community Gardens (a Drupal 8 site I built from scratch), Protect Mill Canyon Watershed (a WordPress site I built and maintain). I co-maintain an existing Joomla website for Crimson Sage Nursery and maintain this blog (utilizing a free WordPress account). I also work part time for WSU maintaining several websites of various projects of the WSU Mt. Vernon Extension office (Western Washington Tree Fruit & Alternative Fruits, Vegetable Research and Extension, Pacific Northwest Vegetable Extension Group, Vegetable Seed Pathology Program, Small Fruit Horticulture Research & Extension Program) and I do work on a pre-existing Drupal 7 website for WSU’s RosBREED program.
